Why are we changing our prices?
In the past few years, the ceramic products manufacturers have gradually converted their glaze products from traditional formulas to non-toxic formulas. You need not be concerned about any of the toxic glazes, as the toxic chemicals burn away during the firing process. The conversion to non-toxic formulas is primarily to protect the health of ceramic workers exposed to unfired materials. During this conversion process, many of the colors that we have used in our products are being discontinued. You may have already seen some of your favorite colors no longer on our web site. Many of these colors are being replaced with the new formulas, but it is a slow process. Additionally, the new formulas are much more expensive than the traditional glazes.
As a result, you will soon see more of our colors disappearing or changing and new colors being added. Additionally, as of June 1, 2009 we will be forced to raise our prices to reflect our increased cost. The increases will not be a flat rate across all products, but will reflect the price increase of the type and quantity of glaze used in each product family. This means some products will see no change, while others may see as much as a 20% increase.
We appreciate your business, and wanted to give you advanced notice of the increase so you may plan your next purchases accordingly. It is difficult for us to raise prices in these tough economic times, but we are confident you will understand.
